Jocelyne A. Macelloni is a board-certified business litigation attorney whose practice focuses on high-stakes commercial disputes, with particular depth in representing secured creditors, factoring companies, asset-based lenders, construction companies, and real estate investors. Ms. Macelloni has extensive experience advising and litigating on behalf of factors and asset-based lenders across a wide range of industries, particularly construction, freight forwarding, import-export trade, and employment. She regularly handles creditor claims, enforcement of secured creditor rights in bankruptcy proceedings, and complex post-judgment collections, including the pursuit of fraudulent transfer claims and cross-border asset tracing.
In addition to creditor-side litigation, Ms. Macelloni is frequently engaged to address complex, procedure-driven issues that can determine the trajectory of a case. Clients and colleagues rely on her to strategically position matters at critical inflection points, including assisting parties in achieving early and efficient exits where the procedural posture allows. Her approach reflects a deep command of civil procedure and an ability to use procedural tools to advance substantive outcomes.
Ms. Macelloni serves as Director of Education at Barakat + Bossa, where she leads the firm’s litigation training initiatives. In that role, she emphasizes mastery of procedural rules as a foundational litigation skill, viewing procedure as the gateway to effective advocacy. She regularly trains attorneys on using procedural precision to preserve arguments, avoid reversals, and position cases for favorable resolution—principles that also define her own litigation practice.
Her perspective is further informed by her international legal education, including legal studies in Italy and the completion of a certificate in international law. Exposure to civil-law reasoning and comparative legal systems has shaped how she approaches disputes and how she counsels international clients, particularly foreign businesses, navigating the U.S. legal system. Ms. Macelloni helps international clients understand not only procedural and substantive distinctions, but also the practical realities of U.S. litigation, including the pace, cost, and strategic considerations unique to creditor and enforcement actions. As a result, she is well-positioned to bridge the gap between international client expectations and U.S. litigation norms, providing clear guidance on risk, strategy, and enforcement options while advancing her clients’ commercial objectives.
Ms. Macelloni’s litigation style is precise, pragmatic, and poised. She approaches each matter with a disciplined focus on mastering the law and the facts from every angle, using procedural tools to move cases efficiently toward resolution. She is particularly attentive to risk reduction, cost-effective strategy, and opportunities for fee shifting.
She is also an adjunct professor of civil litigation at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law and regularly publishes and speaks on topics related to business litigation, secured transactions, creditor rights, and alternative finance.
