BIOGRAPHY

Jakub Trunda is a Law Clerk at Barakat + Bossa, where he assists in legal research, case preparation, and drafting legal documents. He is currently pursuing his Juris Doctor at Nova Southeastern University and has earned both a Master of Law (Mgr.) and a Doctor of Law (JUDr.) degree from Charles University in Prague. Jakub’s work experience includes a full-time role as a Policy Officer at the Financial Analytical Office of the Czech Republic’s Department of Treasury, where he handled the implementation of international sanctions, particularly targeting Russia and Belarus.

Jakub also gained valuable experience during a 6-month internship at the U.S. Embassy in Prague in the Public Affairs Section (American Center), where he worked to promote Czech-American relations and helped organize with Fulbright Commission the largest LLM fair in the Czech Republic. He has further honed his legal skills in various roles, including as a Legal Intern at the State Land Office and a Junior Paralegal at Cisar, Ceska, Smutny.

Jakub is the author of an academic book, Contemplated Reforms of the U.S. Presidential Election (“Uvažované Reformy Prezidentských Voleb v USA”), published by Charles University, Faculty of Law. The book, written in Czech, explores potential reforms to the U.S. presidential election system and is available in bookstores across the Czech Republic and in the libraries of major universities. Jakub’s passion for politics and elections is reflected in this work, showcasing his dedication to political systems and reforms.
Jakub is fluent in English, Czech and Slovak, with conversational proficiency in Polish and basic knowledge of German.
